In addition to Andrea Chenier, he had triumphs with Fedora, Siberia, and Madame Sans-Gene, all of which are still heard occasionally in Italy. It is indeed the case, however, that only Andrea Chenier has entered the standard repertoire worldwide. It has always been a favorite not only of audiences, but also of singers-especially tenors, for whom the composer has generously provided not one, but two blockbuster arias that never fail to bring down the house.
