Przedmiotem monografii jest Parsifal, ostatnie dzieło operowe Richarda Wagnera. Wieloaspektowe ujęcie tego zagadnienia stwarza perspektywę dla oglądu całości dzieła niemieckiego kompozytora jako spójnego systemu estetyczno-teologicznego. Rozprawa wpisuje się w ten nurt badań, który wyznaczają badania S. Kunzego, D. Borchmeyera, C. Dahlhausa i E. Vossa. Publikacja odsłania nie tylko ogólnokulturową rangę dzieła Wagnera, rzuca też nowe światło na polską recepcję jego teorii (obecną w myśli teatralnej S. Wyspiańskiego).
Theatre and religion of art. Parsifal by Richard Wagner
The subject of this book is Parsifal, Richard Wagner`s last musical drama. The author`s intention was to present the genre-analysis approach to the discussed problem, which would match the nature of Wagner`s work in the best way. The numerous points of view presented in the book contribute to its interdisciplinary nature but only in the sense that various perspectives of literary, theater and musical studies are equally applied here. The comprehensive argumentation reveals Wagner`s project of dramatic and musical unity in Gesamtkunstwerk as presented in his theoretical works. The order of the problems discussed is as follows: the situation of German opera in the first half of the 19th century, socio-historical issues (the role of theater - the musical theater in particular - in the European culture of that era), the methodological approach (intentio operis), the analysis and interpretation of the artistic performance (Carl Dahlhaus`s method of interpreting analysis), the concept of the Promethean idea and its changes beginning with the tetralogy - Der Ring and ending with Parsifal.
