Melvin L. Kohn is Professor of Sociology at the Johns Hopkins University. Kazimierz M. Slomczynski is Professor of Sociology at the Ohio State University; he is also affiliated with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
