Książka jest monografią adresowaną do badaczy, studentów i informatyków zainteresowanych systematycznym opisem zasobów leksykalnych polszczyzny. Opis - oparty na studiach bogatego materiału empirycznego - sporządzono z myślą o dalszych praktycznych zastosowaniach, przede wszystkim w komputerowych technologiach wykorzystujących język naturalny oraz w dydaktyce.
Predicate nouns of Polish. Towards a syntactic dictionary of predicate nouns. Comparative approach
This book is dedicated to the researchers, students and language engineers interested in systematic description of Polish lexical resources and their applications to development of language-based technologies. It contributes to the description of syntactic structures in which they may occur. This classification is equivalent to a lexicon-grammar, i.e. to a dictionary of predicative words together with their usage within syntactic structures of the form predicate + argument(s). The conclusions are drawn on the basis of investigation of ca 40 000 nouns for which the possibility of forming nominal predicate (together with some support verb) was studied. In that number some 7500 nouns were classified as predicative and were given descriptions in terms of syntactic strictures they are susceptible to form. Examples of potential computer applications of the fundamental research presented in the book are provided as well.
