Wnikliwe studium teoretyczno-literackie poświęcone poezji Witolda Wirpszy, będące raczej monografią konwencji poetyckiej niż całej twórczości, sytuującej się w nurcie lingwistycznym poezji lat 60. Szczególnie cenne są fragmenty interpretacyjne rozprawy, napisane z inwencją i wielkim znawstwem tajników wersyfikacji, stylistyki i retoryki.
Poetry as theory of poetry. On the example of Witold Wirpsza`s theory
Witold Wirpsza`s poetry, set against the background of his activity in the field of literature and criticism, is the subject of this dissertation. The key concept is here self-reflection understood more widely than autothematism, which concerns literaty works that deal with writing of these works. In Wirpsza`s poetry the most important appears to be the metalanguage plane as a result of which "autopoetry" of a kind is created. This poetty marks incessantly the objective character of its author. And just showing the phenomenon of poetry, which is a theory, is the principal aim of this work. The area of considerations is marked by the question about the system of Wirpsza`s own views on the art of writing, formulated expressis verbis in his critical opinions and essays, and first of all present in his poetic realisations, in either an implicated or discoursive manner. The centre of studies are interferences of poetics and self-reflection, observing how theory is tested in the poetic activity, and literaty activity becomes its own interpretation, i.e. by which methods poetry builds a theory and tests it on itself. At the same time throwing light on the rules of poetics which is to lead to recognising authorial views on the art of writing shows a model of the world encoded in literary works.
