Opis książki:
"Nowa Huta Ecomuseum" is a guidebook presenting two tourist routes functioning as part of the ecomuseum in Nowa Huta Quarter: route I – "Architectural design and urban layout of Nowa Huta", route II – "The forgotten heritage of Nowa Huta. Historic monuments and architectural complexes built before 1949". The guidebook takes you on a tour around 17 unique heritage sites, from Central Square and Roses Avenue to the Renaissance lamus (outbuilding) in Branice.
The book presents representative examples of socialist realism. It was here that records of workers’ efficiency were established, and one of the squares in Nowa Huta has been named after the greatest of such champion-workers – bricklayer Piotr Ożański. The book will introduce you to major architectural achievements of socialism realism, e.g. the Ludowy Theatre and the "Świt" Cinema. It will lead you to places where people who did not want to live in “a city without God” and under communist regime paid for their rebellion with their own blood and suffering (Nowa Huta Cross; Bogdan Włosik Memorial).
The forgotten heritage of Nowa Huta which has been preserved in the area (e.g. in the former villages of Pleszów, Ruszcza, Wadów, Kościelniki and Krzesławice) includes a number of fascinating heritage sites such as complexes of old rural architecture, numerous manors, palaces, churches and sacred monuments.
The interesting photographs which enrich the textual content of the book present merely a glimpse of the plentitude of historic sites which you can discover while following the tourist routes with the guidebook in your hand.
