The book, called by a reviwer "a manual of non-mathematical astronomy", presents problems in the field of history of the study of the Universe and its birth, with emphasis on the origin - cosmogony - of the Solar System. The author also touches widely upon problems of astralistics (relations constellations and names of stars with mythology), cosmoecology (influences of celestial bodies on organisms of earth biosphere, also on men, and cosmic roots of life), astrophysics and cosmology. The author discusses in great detail the consequences of the anthropic principle, and does not avoid the riddle of existence of "other worlds" and the problem of man`s communication with the extraterrestrial psyche. The book is dedicated mostly to students of philosophy, it will also be of interest to students of astronomy, and even to professional astronomers. It is written in a lucid and interestingf manner. The text is enriched with numerous illustrations. The first edition (1996) was very popular with readers.
