Opis książki:
This voluminous, bilingual catalogue accompanies the exhibition which proves to be the most comprehensive presentation of Jewish artists who either lived, worked or studied in Kraków that has been organized to date. The volume contains two essays – one by Professor Jerzy Malinowski (Kraków and the Jewish Art World in Poland and in Europe) and the other by Natasza Styrna, Ph D (Jewish Artists in Kraków 1873–1939) – which introduce the reader to the art presented in the exhibition in a fascinating way and constitute a splendid commentary on the catalogue part of the book. The catalogue contains annotated photographs of 132 items presented in the exhibition – paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures – which come from 26 museums and private collections in Poland, and these are complemented by 49 biographical entries on the artists whose works are on show.
