The Phenomenon of European Spirit

The reflections contained in the book focus on the mystery of the spiritual phenomenon of Europe. The authors document the thoughts and actions of those who are patrons of spiritual European identity: saints and scholars, pilgrims and philosophers, mystics and rulers. They remind us of the spiritual paths taken in the past and which are still being followed by men and women, youngsters and elders in the restless pursuit of the answer to questions which remain timeless. The authors highlight the meaning of the Christian tradition which is the foundation of European identity. These values are closely related to Jewish, ancient Greek and Roman cultures and they form the datum point for the vision of Europe. The aim of these deliberations is an attempt to answer questions surrounding the state of the European spirit, the current return to religion and the character and sense of postsecular philosophy.
