It is with great pleasure that we present to you this fascinating collection of 35 articles, essays and memoirs dedicated to Professor Ewdoksia Papuci‑Władyka, one of the most eminent Polish classical archaeologists, long-standing head of the Department of Classical Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology of the Jagiellonian University and Visiting Professor at the Polish Centre of Mediterranean Archaeology of the University of Warsaw. Professor Papuci-Władyka is widely known and highly respected in the archaeological community, in Poland, and around the world. The presented collection of texts and entries in the Tabula Gratulatoria attests to this. During her prolific career Professor Papuci-Władyka has been setting directions and trends in Polish research on classical civilisations by initiating new projects and excavations at important sites such as Koshary in Ukraine, Halasarna on the Greek island of Kos, and Nea Pafos in Cyprus. Working in Cyprus, she has developed a unique project combining the potential of the best Polish universities – the Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw – with contributions from other universities, thus creating one of the most active Polish expeditions in the Mediterranean basin. Her efforts in this area culminated in the first archaeological excavation in Greece to be led by Jagiellonian University.
