This album have been published to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Cracovian Christmas Crib Competition. The author-Anna Szałapak-in the introduction presents genesis of the tradition of Christmas cribs in Europe and Cracow. Cracovian Christmas cribs are known all over the world. You cant`t find anything like this anywhere else in the world. This special type of Christmas cribs appeared in Cracow in the 19th century and now has became a "trade mark" of the city, because of elements of cracovian architecture. This book conatins also the history of the Cracovian Christmas Crib Competition, which started in 1937. Each year, on the first Thursday of December, masters of cribs, bring their work next to The Adam Mickiewicz`s statue at Market Square. The album includes about 150 beatiful and colorful pictures of cribs owned by the Historical Museum of the City Cracow, as well as photos of ancient competitions.
