The papers included this volume were presented at the EUROSLA 10 (European Second Language Association) conference in Kraków (7-10 September 2000). Most of the papers have been written by Polish authors but there are also some papers from Latvia, Spain and Holland. The papers are adressed to teachers and students of linguistic, psycholinguistic and language teaching departments of universities, higher vocational schools and teachers colleges. They introduce the readers into the fascinating and multifaceted field of second language acquisition research. The selection represents a variety of research approaches, covering, among others, second language discourse analysis, child bilingualism, communicative competence assessment, course design and teacher development.
